Current Conditions

Fireworks are prohibited at this time throughout Chelan County. June 1 restrictions are currently in place, with restrictions going to all areas of unincorporated Chelan County on July 1. Beginning July 1, residential campfires are prohibited. You can still operate a propane-fueled grill or stove; coal briquettes are prohibited beginning July 1.
Chelan County currently is at a high fire danger level.

JULY 1 RESTRICTIONS (applies to Valley and Mountain Zones)

STAGE 2

• All Stage 1 restrictions apply.
• Educational barricades are placed on designated county roadways to alert the public to the fire hazard conditions.
• No target shooting is allowed outside of a gun range. Hunting is allowed in open areas.
• Residential campfires are not allowed.
• The use of commercial propane -fueled grill barbecues and camp stoves is allowed. 
• Coal briquette barbecues are prohibited as of July 1st.

FIREWORKS

• Fireworks are banned year-round in unincorporated Chelan County except on New Year’s Eve.
• People can light off fireworks in unincorporated Chelan County annually from 6 p.m. on Dec. 31 to 1 a.m. on Jan. 1.
• Only common fireworks permitted to be sold by retailers within the unincorporated Chelan County may be discharged between the allowed times on Dec. 31.
• Fine for discharging fireworks is up to $1,000 and up to 90 days in jail.

• Additionally, under Stage 1 Fire Restrictions, smoking is prohibited, except within an enclosed vehicle or building, designated campground, or while stopped in an area at least three feet in diameter that is barren or cleared of all flammable material. Traveling off developed roads and trails also is not allowed, except minimum travel over bare mineral soil, to access dispersed camping.
